Brian Coleman and friends
musical tribute to Tim Haslett
-
Back in the Day Brian Coleman did an amazing radio show on WZBC called "School Beats" with Boston's recently departed musical guru Tim Haslett. Brian is once again dedicating his set to this inspirational man and sharing the bill with some of the other local DJs that Tim influenced so deeply during his time here on Earth.
Brian
is the author of the recently published Check the Technique: Liner Notes for Hip-Hop Junkies (Random House/Villard, 2007) and Rakim Told Me: Hip-Hop Wax Facts, Straight from the Original Artists (Wax Facts Press, 2005), both of which offer retrospective "liner notes" for dozens of classic hip-hop albums, including track-by-track commentary by the artists and producers involved. Over the past decade he has written extensively about hip-hop for publications such as Scratch, URB, Wax Poetics, Boston Phoenix, XXL, and the Source.
As one can imagine, his crates run deep

Eric Hnatow
-
This cat really knows hot to rock a party as we learned last time he came through BR, here is a review of one of his recent shows...
"Northampton's own Hnatow began the night with a loud set of heavy dance beats amid spasms of fractured noise and ambience. With his table of samplers and other electronics on the floor, a bearded Hnatow got the crowd into his programmed rhythms by jumping through the sparse audience, falling on people and the floor, even running a lap around the perimeter of the club."

Nick Dawg
and Triton
-
If you were to sum up the kind of music that Nickdawg digs and likes to play out in a nutshell, you would need a nut the size of a basketball to include all of it! Best known for his drum and bass sets, Nick also stockpiles a collection of house, garage, hip hop, and Baltimore club records spanning the last 20 years as well to ensure that his sets include a little something for everyone. Nick also strives to combine the latest technology of using Ableton to create mashups and remixes to play on cdjs while continuing to bust out the good ol vinyl records. Check out a few of his mixes on his Myspace page for a taste.
Triton is a dub house party for astronauts and deep sea drillers. He records for Zero G Sounds, and this is his first live PA.
